How big is big? China's largest SUVs, measured and ranked

Verified factory dimensions for the giants, and how they tower over what we drive in Jamaica

A size ranking of China's biggest SUVs has been doing the rounds on social media, and the idea is fun, so we checked every number against factory and regulatory filings. Some of the viral figures were off, a couple of cars have since been replaced by bigger second generations, and the honest table is below. All figures are length by width by height in millimetres for the standard variant.

The verified top ten (mid 2026)

1. Yangwang U8 (BYD): 5,319 x 2,050 x 1,930, and the stretched U8L reaches 5,400. 2. WEY V9X long wheelbase (GWM): 5,299 x 2,025 x 1,825. 3. AITO M9, second generation from May 2026: 5,285 x 2,026 x 1,845, with the Ultimate stretching to 5,402. 4. NIO ES8, third generation: 5,280 x 2,010 x 1,800. 5. Denza N9 (BYD): 5,258 x 2,030 x 1,830. 6. Li Auto L9 Livis: 5,255 x 2,000 x 1,810. 7. Leapmotor D19: 5,252 x 1,995 x 1,780. 8. Lynk & Co 900 (Geely): 5,240 x 1,999 x 1,810. 9. Zeekr 9X (Geely): 5,239 x 2,029 x 1,819. 10. Voyah Taishan (Dongfeng): 5,230 x 2,025 x 1,817. Li Auto's electric i8, often shown in these lists, is actually a size class down at 5,085.

Where the viral version goes wrong

The infographic circulating on Instagram lists the first generation Li L9 at 5,279 millimetres; the factory figure is 5,218, and the new Livis generation is 5,255. It also shows the i8 at 5,218 when the real car is 5,085, and it misses that the redesigned AITO M9 leapfrogged half the list in May 2026. Viral car content is fun. Filed dimensions are better.

Now the Jamaica reality check

Nothing in that table is sold new here, so how do our local giants compare? The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is about 4,925 millimetres long. The GAC GS8 measures roughly 4,980, and the Jetour X70 Plus about 4,749. In other words, China's tenth biggest SUV is still around a quarter of a metre longer than the largest SUVs most Jamaicans cross shop, and the Yangwang U8 is nearly 40 centimetres longer than a Prado. Our roads, car parks and pockets may be perfectly happy about that.

Will any of them reach Jamaica?

Several belong to groups already trading here: Denza is BYD (ATL sells BYD), the Lynk & Co 900 and Zeekr 9X are Geely group products, and AITO's builder Seres has no local presence yet. If any arrive, width will matter as much as length. At over two metres wide, the U8 and Zeekr 9X are wider than a Hilux.

The bottom line
